Teresa Zumwald

Chapter President

I’m a speechwriter, speech coach, B2B communications consultant and three-time corporate history book author at Zumwald & Company, established in 1989. Since then, I’ve worked one-on-one with brilliant CEOs, entrepreneurs and subject matter experts at more than 80 organizations to tell stories that resonate. Over the years, speeches written for clients have won 11 international, national and regional awards including five Cicero Speechwriting Awards from Vital Speeches of the Day. I’m also the speechwriter for the chairman of the board of two global manufacturing companies based in Europe. My alma mater is The Ohio State University, where I earned a bachelor’s degree in journalism.

As president of IABC Greater Cincinnati, I lead a terrific team of committed communicators: true pros dedicated to our purpose of advancing the profession, creating connection and developing strategic communicators. I’ve been an IABC member since 1995 and served previously as the chapter’s vice president of programs and as a senior board member. Reach me at president-cincinnati@iabc.com.

Chris Klein

Vice President, Professional Development

Writing is my specialty and my first love! Other than a brief stint at Cincinnati Children’s, I’ve been a self-employed healthcare writer for 30 years. Websites, blogs, white papers, newsletters and other marketing materials consume my days. You can view samples of my work and learn more about my writing career at www.wordpudding.com

Other than work, I travel as much as possible. I’m taking Spanish classes to prepare me for upcoming trips to the Galapagos Islands and Portugal. Spanish is fun, but it’s not easy!

Professional Development Committee

For the last 10+ years I’ve built and led an in-house creative team that manages all advertising, marketing communications and brand-related projects contributing to United Way of Central Ohio’s $54+ million annual campaign. I thrive on turning strategy into tactics, ideas into products, disparate views to consensus, and chaos into order.

I’ve been IABC member since 2004, when I discovered the wealth of interdisciplinary knowledge IABC offers. I am a past president of IABC Columbus, serving on the board there for 5 years. Encouraged by the enthusiastic welcome of this group, I joined IABC Greater Cincinnati’s programs committee shortly after moving to Cincinnati in 2016.

Terri Wellman

Vice President, Membership

I am a marketing communications professional with expertise in healthcare. As communications manager at MediSync, my focus is on success for our clients, medical groups across the U.S. It requires managing complex projects in multiple business environments.

As vice president of membership, I work to stay on top of membership opportunities and new benefits. If you’d like to become a member of the premier group for business communicators in Greater Cincinnati (and the world), please contact me at membership-cincinnati@iabc.com.

Joe BobbeyJoe Bobbey

Vice President, Finance

I’m a Change Management consultant who helps clients improve their performance potential. At TiER1 Performance Solutions, LLC, I work with clients to deliver change solutions, including organizational design, communication, learning, visual communication and technology support.

I’ve been an IABC member since 1999 – one term as chapter president, but mostly (and presently) as VP of Finance. I help maintain the chapter’s financial stability (and pay the bills). Reach me at finance-cincinnati@iabc.com.

sarah-schellSarah Schell

Vice President, Communications

As a corporate communications director for Macy’s, Inc., I lead a team of communication professionals who manage the strategy and execution within Macy’s functional offices throughout the country. I have worked in various communication roles within the HR and Benefits functions, where I created and delivered enterprise-wide communications with a focus on simplifying messaging and building engagement.

I am passionate about creating impactful communications and having an expanded communications community where all involved can enhance their capabilities and share best practices.

I have been the chapter’s vice president of communication since July 2013, where I oversee our monthly touchpoints, including the email campaigns for our professional development programs. I’m also assisted by a communications committee (new!).

Contact me at webmaster-cincinnati@iabc.com.

jessicacanterburyJessica Canterbury

Communications Committee

Sharing stories and human connections is the name of my game. I have done this the past 15 years in various venues: the local alt-weekly CityBeat, international art magazines published by F+W Media and now at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center.

New to IABC, I’ll be driving the social media channels for the chapter. What’s your story? Connect with us on Twitter and LinkedIn.

Connie Feick

Communications Committee

If I had to choose one word to describe myself, it would be “passionate.” And nothing stokes more passion in me than writing and communicating. For the past 16 years I’ve worked in various marketing and communications roles at EyeMed Vision Care, a division of Luxottica. I’m especially interested in finding new ways to reach resistant audiences using technology.

I’m fairly new to IABC but excited to be able to promote this great organization by helping with chapter communications, specifically by managing the website.

Jackiedra Wilson

Communications Committee

I love to develop new or improved ways to engage and inspire folks to act and ultimately meet their needs. My talents are strategic communication, project management and content editing. I used to work for Messer Construction Co. many moons ago and have happily returned (Dec. 2015) in the role of Senior Marketing Manager, Marketing & Corporate Communication. In this role, I enjoy working with colleagues to deliver internal (1,200+) and external (nine regions throughout Midwest and Southeast) communication and engagement. Prior to rejoining Messer, I held marketing/communication roles at United Way of Greater Cincinnati and Cargill Flavor Systems (acquired by Kerry Ingredients in 2012).

I’ve been an IABC member since 2013 and have enjoyed valuable local and regional workshops and networking events. I joined the Board in 2017 in the newly created role Student and Business Communication Outreach.

Connie Ruhe

Past President

I’m a results-oriented communication professional. I currently support Mercy Health’s Human Resources function with clear, concise, compelling messages for senior leaders, managers and 30,000-plus employees of our healthcare system operating in Ohio and Kentucky. My experience includes employee communication and benefits administration roles at Cincinnati Bell, benefits communication at Macy’s, Inc. and a brief stint as an independent communications consultant.

I’ve been an IABC member since 2009, serving one term as Communications VP and two terms as President. In my current role, I’m focused on succession planning and talent acquisition to serve Chapter members and other area business communicators.
