Teresa Zumwald

Chapter President

I’m a speechwriter, speech coach, B2B communications consultant and three-time corporate history book author at Zumwald & Company, established in 1989. Since then, I’ve worked one-on-one with brilliant CEOs, entrepreneurs and subject matter experts at more than 80 organizations to tell stories that resonate. Over the years, speeches written for clients have won 11 international, national and regional awards including five Cicero Speechwriting Awards from Vital Speeches of the Day. I’m also the speechwriter for the chairman of the board of two global manufacturing companies based in Europe. My alma mater is The Ohio State University, where I earned a bachelor’s degree in journalism.

As president of IABC Greater Cincinnati, I lead a terrific team of committed communicators: true pros dedicated to our purpose of advancing the profession, creating connection and developing strategic communicators. I’ve been an IABC member since 1995 and served previously as the chapter’s vice president of programs and as a senior board member. Reach me at president-cincinnati@iabc.com.

Vice President,

Professional Development

I moved to Cincinnati in 2016, while keeping my job as AVP, Marketing at United Way of Central Ohio in Columbus. For two years, I worked 75% remotely, while continuing to manage the brand team, marketing strategy, advertising, research, and the dozens of other things a small team has to do to keep a $50 million organization visible, relevant and appealing to donors. In short: I’ve mastered the art of creatively maximizing resources! I’m now looking for ways to apply my skills and experience in Cincinnati in a strategy, marketing communications or organizational operations role.

I’ve been an IABC member since 2004, when I discovered the wealth of interdisciplinary knowledge IABC offers (which is helpful when you’re doing a little bit of everything!). I am a past president of IABC | Columbus, serving on the board there for 5 years. Encouraged by the enthusiastic welcome of this group, I joined IABC | Greater Cincinnati’s programs committee shortly after moving to Cincinnati, and am leading the team this year. If you’ve got ideas for program topics, speakers or venues, send them my way!

Kari McLean

PR Manager

A former theater kid and Miami University alum, I solve marketing communications puzzles with strategy and imagination to advance business mission, goals, and objectives. Using a wide range of channels to move audiences to action, I make ideas real through expressive, experiential communications. One common thread to my work is taking a vision from concept through completion.

An IABC member since 2004, I recently moved from Chicago where I held a variety of roles on the Chicago Chapter Board. Participating as an IABC awards judge at the local, regional, and international levels is always a rewarding experience. Thrilled to be learning my new city through the IABC lens!

I am a marketing communications professional with expertise in healthcare. As communications manager at MediSync, my focus is on success for our clients, medical groups across the U.S. It requires managing complex projects in multiple business environments.

As vice president of membership, I work to stay on top of membership opportunities and new benefits. If you’d like to become a member of the premier group for business communicators in Greater Cincinnati (and the world), please contact me at membership-cincinnati@iabc.com.

sarah-schellSarah Schell

Vice President, Communications

As a corporate communications director for Macy’s, Inc., I lead a team of communication professionals who manage the strategy and execution within Macy’s functional offices throughout the country. I have worked in various communication roles within the HR and Benefits functions, where I created and delivered enterprise-wide communications with a focus on simplifying messaging and building engagement.

I am passionate about creating impactful communications and having an expanded communications community where all involved can enhance their capabilities and share best practices.

I have been the chapter’s vice president of communication since July 2013, where I oversee our monthly touchpoints, including the email campaigns for our professional development programs. I’m also assisted by a communications committee (new!).

Contact me at webmaster-cincinnati@iabc.com.

jessicacanterburyJessica Canterbury

Social Media Manager

Sharing stories and human connections is the name of my game. I have done this the past 15 years in various venues: the local alt-weekly CityBeat, international art magazines published by F+W Media and now at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center.

New to IABC, I’ll be driving the social media channels for the chapter. What’s your story? Connect with us on Twitter and LinkedIn.

Connie Feick

Website Manager

If I had to choose one word to describe myself, it would be “passionate.” And nothing stokes more passion in me than writing and communicating. For the past 17 years I’ve worked in various marketing and communications roles at EyeMed Vision Care, a division of Luxottica. I’m especially interested in finding new ways to reach resistant audiences using technology.

IABC has opened up a world of resources to me as a communicator. I’m excited to be able to help the chapter move into the future.

Jackiedra Wilson

Student/Business Outreach Manager and Excellence in Communications Event Chair

I love to develop new or improved ways to engage and inspire folks to act and ultimately meet their needs. My talents are strategic communication, project management and content editing. I used to work for Messer Construction Co. many moons ago and have happily returned (Dec. 2015) in the role of Senior Marketing Manager, Marketing & Corporate Communication. In this role, I enjoy working with colleagues to deliver internal (1,200+) and external (10 regions throughout Midwest and Southeast) communication and engagement. Prior to rejoining Messer, I held marketing/communication roles at United Way of Greater Cincinnati and Cargill Flavor Systems (acquired by Kerry Ingredients in 2012).

I’ve been an IABC member since 2013 and have enjoyed valuable local and regional workshops and networking events. I joined the Board in 2017 in the newly created role Student and Business Communication Outreach.
