Board and Leadership Positions

President:

  • General supervision over executive affairs of the Chapter
  • Preside over meetings of the Chapter and the Chapter Board
  • Perform other duties necessary to the office or as prescribed by the Board

President Elect:

  • Serve in absence of the President
  • Serve as Chair of the Nominating Committee

Past President:

  • Advise and assist the President, President Elect, and other Chapter leaders

VP, Finance:

  • Serve as Chapter Treasurer
  • Responsible for deposit, safekeeping, and distribution of funds of the Chapter
  • Maintain records of receipts, expenditures, and assets of the Chapter
  • Prepare an annual budget; and full and interim financial reports
  • Prepare end-of-year report and tax forms for IABC Headquarters
  • Lead sponsorship efforts

Co-Finance:

  • N/A, except for other officers who are able to write checks and deposit funds

VP, Programs:

  • Manage and coordinate the activities of the Program Committee to plan and produce scheduled chapter meetings
  • Participate in specific activities as a committee member as prescribed below
  • Develop survey and feedback mechanisms and compile results

Program Committee Members:

  • Select topics, speakers, and locations of individual meetings, make catering arrangements
  • Prepare promotional communications and post-meeting summaries, and work with VP, Communication, on promoting and summarizing meetings
  • Introduce speakers at meetings; also purchase/present speaker gifts, as appropriate

VP, Membership:

  • Recruit new members and respond to requests for membership information
  • Welcome renewing and new members through direct, individual contact
  • Monitor the monthly rebate report from IABC and share with VP, Finance
  • Maintain lists of members and prospects, including contact information
  • Promote membership, including distribution of promotional materials at meetings and elsewhere and participation in IABC and chapter membership months

Co-Membership:

  • Provide back-up to VP, Finance at meetings to record attendance

Chair, Student Relations:

  • Create and implement plans to recruit student members
  • Work with area faculty and local colleges/universities to generate interest

VP, Communication:

  • Prepare material to ensure members receive timely, accurate information
  • Promote events internally and externally via email, website, social media and other media (e.g., Constant Contact, PayPal, etc.)
  • Maintain event registration lists and share with other board members
  • Manage website and social media accounts

Co-Communication:

  • Prepare content and distribute as needed
  • Assist in managing website and social media accounts

Chair, Job Relations:

  • Compile potential job listings from  members’ companies and other sources
  • Post and otherwise distribute job opportunities to members via existing chapter communications

Board Members-at-Large:

  • Participate in planning and voting on chapter activities
  • Fill in as needed to assist with events and activities

Other (responsibilities that can be performed by additional people or included in positions above):

Secretary:

  • Keep records of Chapter meetings and share with the Heritage Region liaison

Chair, Awards:

  • Coordinate chapter participation in the Heritage Region Silver Quill awards
